ABOUT THE ART …

Fifteen years in development, most of this work originates from an encounter with the islamic geometric tradition displayed in the great monuments of Southern Spain, especially the Alhambra and the great mosque of Cordoba. The sacred fire encoded in these designs inspired me to believe that here was a journey to be had amongst pure line and color, searching out a balance between clarity and complexity, two powerful lenses, adjusted to focus the attention, to feel what you see. Submitting the riggor of the tradition to the flow of improvisation, developing an aesthetic I would describe as Arab jazz.

For me the question of abstract art should be, not what is it, but what does it actually do.
